BRIGHTON BEGINNERS

Build core strength and cardio fitness as you learn how to spin an adult-sized hula hoop on your body and in your hands.  Whether you’re after a fun workout, a new circus skill to show off at festivals, a way to de-stress, or something extra to add to your dance routine, hooping has got something for everyone. Suitable for all ages, no experience necessary and we bring the hoops to class each week.

Did you know that hulahooping burns up to 100 calories in ten minutes? The class starts with an upbeat warm-up and then goes straight into aeorobic exercises using the hoop as added resistance. You’ll spin the hoop on different parts of your body and get your heart rate up as we move around in simple and easy-to-follow steps. You’ll learn tricks that will get your muscles working plus play some energising games to build up a sweat! The class will finish with some HoopYoga, using the hoop as a tool to stretch out your muscles and increase your flexibility.

UNLEASH YOUR HOOP NINJA

This course is all about awesome moves that with make you look and feel like a proper hoop ninja. Each week we will focus on a different set of moves and variations on them, including balances, wedgies, shoulder hooping tech, floor work and much more! Plus we will incorporate movement and sequences exercises as well as blindfolded sessions to help you link your moves together in your flow. This is a multi level class – all welcome as long as you have completed a beginner hoop course.

 Tech Tricks

For hoopers who have completed a beginners course. Each week will include lots of new moves that might make your head hurt at first, but will quickly make sense and make you feel awesome! We will also learn variations on loads of moves you might already know, including kick-ups, atoms, escalators, isolations, weaves, wedgies and plenty more. Plus you’ll look at teching up your own favourite moves so you end up with something completely different and unique to you. This course is multilevel – please bring a second hoop if you want a challenge!

Finished a beginners course and keen for more? Or been hooping for a while and want to work on your flow? In this course, you’ll learn lots of exciting new moves with one and more hoops as well as smoothing out and nailing on-body hooping (especially chest and leg hooping).

Skill level – For any level of hooper, as long as they have completed a beginner hoop dance course and/or has been hooping for at least 2 months.

    Isolation Station

    In this 6 week course we’ll drill the foundations of isolations, pops and flips, then explore lots of amazing variations with 1 and 2 hoops (see the videos below for incredible inspiration!). We’ll look at how to make your isolation tricks even more impressive by using body shapes and levels to improve the illusion. We will also spend time each week training on-body as well  (to give our hands and wrists some downtime!). For all levels as long as you’ve done a beginners hoop course.

    Super Hooper Sequences

    (have completed a beginners course or been hooping for a few months already)

    Each week in this multi-level course we will learn a variety of new tricks and spend time putting them all into a flowing and easy to remember sequence. So by the end of the course you will come away with at least 8 short, fun sequences of moves that you can bust out at any time. Plus, we will also spend time looking at your own personal trick ‘vocabulary’ and come up with your own original combinations. Guaranteed to help you flow more with you hoop and break through any hooping ruts!

    ImageStart your morning off with a spin! Drop in hoop class at St Anns Wells Gardens (in the enclosed garden area). All levels welcome, from complete beginners to advanced hoopsters.

    We will wake up and warm up with some on body hooping and stretching, then once our brains have caught up, some tricks and flow later on.

    This class will be more focused on individual attention, so Jo will come round and help you on what you need
